Water Management in Indonesia: Tackling Water Loss in Cirebon

From October 2023 to February 2024, WI.Plat carried out a groundbreaking Leak Management Pilot Project aimed at improving water management in Indonesia. Focused on addressing water loss challenges, the initiative strengthened the operational efficiency of PDAM Cirebon, the city’s water utility provider.

Steps Taken to Enhance Leak Detection in Cirebon

Leveraging WI.Plat’s Intelligent Leak Management System(NELOW) and data-driven methodologies, systematic and efficient leak detection and recovery were achieved across 9 major management zones (DMAs).

1. Leak Sound Data Collection

Phase 1:

Between October and November 2023, 6,816 leak sounds were collected through an initial survey across 9 DMAs, providing a foundation for identifying potential leak points.

 

Phase 2:

From December 2023 to February 2024, a detailed investigation of 258 high-priority locations was conducted.water management indonesia

 

Phase 3:

Nighttime surface exploration identified 48 suspected leak points, of which 29 were confirmed and immediately repaired.

2. Leak Repair and System Improvement

All 29 confirmed leak points were promptly repaired, and the recovery data was integrated into PDAM Cirebon’s management system for continuous monitoring.water-leak-repair
