WI.Plat Signs Performance-Based NRW Reduction Agreement with Palembang PDAM in Indonesia

WI.Plat Transfers AI-Based Smart Water Management System to Indonesia
As Part of KOICA’s Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) Program

On July 22, 2025, WI.Plat Co., Ltd. signed a performance-based non-revenue water (NRW) reduction agreement with Perumda Tirta Musi (PDAM Palembang) in Indonesia, as part of the Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) program supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The three-year project will cover approximately 32,000 households in the Rambutan district of Palembang. The primary objective is to significantly reduce NRW through the deployment of WI.Plat’s AI-powered smart water management system.

What makes this project unique is its performance-based structure: revenue generated from reduced water losses will be shared between PDAM Palembang and the WI.Plat Consortium, which consists of WI.Plat and its local partner, Supra Internasional. This arrangement enables both parties to benefit from the project’s success and supports the implementation of a sustainable water management model.

Mr. Andi Wijaya Adani, President Director of PDAM Palembang, shared his thoughts on the agreement:
“It is a great honor to partner with the WI.Plat Consortium on Indonesia’s first performance-based project using an intelligent NRW management system. We hope to gain valuable knowledge on innovative water loss reduction strategies through this collaboration.”

WI.Plat CEO Mr. Sanghoon Cha added:
“While this project is made possible with the support of KOICA, it is especially meaningful to WI.Plat as our first official partnership with a regional water utility in Indonesia since entering the market four years ago. We will devote our full capabilities to making Palembang a leading city in smart water management.”

Ir. Ahmad Rosyid, CEO of Supra Internasional, also expressed his commitment:
“We will provide our full support and active involvement in all local operations based on WI.Plat’s technology. We are determined to contribute to the project’s success.”

WI.Plat is also planning various initiatives to support the Indonesian water sector. In particular, the company will collaborate with PERPAMSI (the Indonesian Water Supply Association) to establish an NRW Training Center, aimed at enhancing the technical capabilities of local water utilities.

Furthermore, WI.Plat intends to expand the application of its smart water management system beyond Palembang to other regions, creating sustainable water management models and delivering real, measurable improvements to local communities.

Through this agreement, WI.Plat aims to further expand its smart water management initiatives in Indonesia, enhance water service efficiency in the Palembang region, and deliver improved water services to local residents — in close collaboration with KOICA.

Event: IWWEF 2025(Indonesia Water and Wastewater Expo and Forum)

Date: June 11(Wednesday) ~ 13(Friday), 2025

Location: Jakarta International Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia

WI.Plat participated in IWWEF 2025, a major biennial event hosted by the Indonesian Water Supply Association(PERPAMSI), showcasing its smart water management technologies and accelerating its expansion strategy in Southeast Asia.

This year’s exhibition marked WI.Plat’s first official introduction of its KOICA Inclusive Business Solution(IBS) project to the global market, following its selection in May 2025. The event served as a key platform to present WI.Plat’s AI- and IoT-based leak management solutions to stakeholders in the region.

During the event, WI.Plat signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with PERPAMSI and its local partner SUPRA Internasional to build a collaborative framework for smart water utility management and sustainable leakage reduction.

The company actively promoted upcoming local initiatives, including:

  • The establishment of a Leakage Management Training Center
  • Operation of a Flow Meter Performance Testing Facility
  • Launch of a Performance-Based NRW Reduction Project

WI.Plat also engaged in in-depth consultations with local PDAMs(regional water utilities), government agencies, and industry partners to assess local demand and explore long-term partnerships.

Through IWWEF 2025, WI.Plat reinforced its commitment to providing tailored smart water solutions and will continue to expand its presence across Southeast Asia by fostering strong local collaborations.

WI.Plat Selected for KOICA IBS Program – Launches Full-Scale Water Management Project in Indonesia

Expanding Influence in Southeast Asia’s Water Management Market
CEO Sanghoon Cha: “Establishing Leadership in Smart Water Management Business”

WI.Plat Launches Full-Scale Expansion into Indonesia’s Water Management Market

WI.Plat has officially announced the commencement of its full-scale expansion into Indonesia’s water management sector.

A spin-off from K-water, WI.Plat specializes in AI-based leak detection solutions and was selected in May as a recipient of KOICA’s Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) program.

Through this initiative, WI.Plat aims to transform Indonesia’s water infrastructure and establish a sustainable leak management system that contributes to reducing water loss. The project includes the establishment of a leak management training center and performance testing center, as well as the development of a results-based business model designed to deliver tangible leak reduction outcomes in major Indonesian cities.

In close collaboration with the Indonesian Water Supply Association (Perpamsi) and local partner SUPRA Internasional, WI.Plat plans to build smart water management infrastructure tailored to local conditions. The company will deploy its intelligent leak detection system—powered by AI and IoT technologies—across five regional water utilities in Indonesia, addressing real-world leakage challenges through innovative solutions.

WI.Plat – The Only Korean Company to Successfully Complete KOICA’s CTS Program from Seed 0 to Seed 2 – Expands Sustainable Smart Water Solutions Across Indonesia

WI.Plat is the only Korean company to have successfully completed all stages—Seed 0 through Seed 2—of KOICA’s Creative Technology Solution (CTS) program. Through its previous projects in key Indonesian cities including Surabaya, Bandung, and Cirebon, WI.Plat has demonstrated a deep understanding of local challenges and proven the effectiveness of its customized solutions.

Building upon this foundation of technology and field experience, the current IBS project aims to establish a sustainable digital leak management system across Indonesia. Even after the official project period ends, WI.Plat plans to contribute to Indonesia’s national water management goals by delivering measurable reductions in water loss through scalable and locally adapted solutions.

Furthermore, WI.Plat is using its selection for the KOICA IBS program as a springboard to expand beyond Indonesia into the broader Southeast Asian region. The intelligent leak management technology successfully validated in Indonesia will be applied to other countries with pressing water infrastructure needs—including the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand—to expand its regional influence. In doing so, WI.Plat aims to advance sustainable development and environmental protection across Southeast Asia.

Sanghoon Cha, CEO of WI.Plat, stated,

“Being selected for KOICA’s IBS program is a major milestone that not only supports Indonesia’s water management capacity through Korea’s advanced digital water solutions, but also lays the groundwork for WI.Plat to establish leadership in the Southeast Asian smart water management market. We hope this project will provide practical benefits to Indonesia as it builds a nationwide intelligent water management system, and we will do our best to establish a sustainable business model that aligns with local needs.”
