WI.Plat Signs Second Performance-Based NRW Reduction Project in Indonesia with Banjar PDAM

WI.Plat has signed its second performance-based NRW reduction project in Indonesia, accelerating the overseas expansion of its AI-based smart water management business.
Under the KOICA Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) programme, WI.Plat concluded a three-year Performance-Based Project (PBP) contract with Perumda Air Minum Tirta Anom, Banjar City (Banjar PDAM) and held an official signing ceremony.
The contract follows last year’s agreement with Perumda Tirta Musi in Palembang, Indonesia’s first performance-based NRW reduction project. Together they show that the technology and business model verified through the KOICA IBS programme are now being carried into consecutive commercial projects abroad.
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Banjar and senior city officials, the management of Banjar PDAM, and representatives of WI.Plat and its local partner, who pledged to work together for the successful delivery of the project. After the ceremony, the delegation visited the Banjar PDAM water treatment plant to review its main facilities and discuss the operating status of the project area and the implementation plan. As an official event held jointly by the city government and the water utility, the ceremony also confirmed the local government’s interest in and support for smart water management.
Banjar PDAM faces high non-revenue water (NRW) and needs to expand new service connections while improving operating efficiency. Through this project the utility expects to establish a data-driven, systematic leak management framework and raise the efficiency of its water supply operations. WI.Plat will introduce AI-based leak-sound analysis, data-driven network management and a performance-oriented operating system to reduce NRW and deliver a more reliable water service.
“This contract is a meaningful result that shows WI.Plat’s AI-based smart water management technology and performance-based business model are earning the trust of Indonesian water utilities and continuing to spread,” said Sang-Hoon Cha, CEO of WI.Plat. “We will deliver this project successfully, make Banjar a flagship smart water management success case for regional water utilities in Indonesia, expand cooperation with utilities in other regions on that basis, and keep scaling the performance-based model.”
Following the signing, WI.Plat will work with Banjar PDAM to establish the baseline, carry out field surveys, run AI-based data analysis, repair leaks and evaluate performance in stages. Building on the PBP experience gained in Palembang and Banjar, the company plans to extend cooperation to other regional utilities in Indonesia and to keep bringing the smart water management technology and business model developed through the KOICA IBS project to overseas markets.
Beyond a simple technology supply, the contract applies Korea’s AI-based smart water management technology and performance-based business model directly to the operation of a local water utility. It is also regarded as a case in which technology discovered through the KOICA IBS programme has led to a commercial project, linking public cooperation with private business.
WI.Plat plans to expand its sustainable smart water management model across developing markets, starting with Indonesia, on the basis of the technology and business experience accumulated through the KOICA IBS programme.
