Workshop Overview
On April 30 and May 2, 2024, WI.Plat successfully hosted the “Sharing Achievements and Sustainable Solutions for Water Management in Indonesia” workshops in Bandung and Surabaya. The workshops aimed to share the outcomes of the KOICA CTS Seed 2 project with key stakeholders and discuss future collaboration and strategies for Non-Revenue Water (NRW) management in Indonesia. The events were attended by representatives from Perumda Tirtawening (Bandung), Tirta Giri Nata (Cirebon), and PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya (Surabaya).
Opening Remarks
The workshops began with opening remarks from the heads of each invited organization, including Soni Salimi, Director of Perumda Tirtawening, Sopyan Satari, Director of Perumda Air Minum Kota Cirebon, and Ir. Arief Wisnu Cahyono, ST, Director of PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya.
Presentations by WI.Plat and SUPRA
Following the introductions, WI.Plat and their local partner, SUPRA, presented the NELOW system used in the field pilot projects, sharing its application and success in various countries, including South Korea. They also discussed the insights gained from the on-site operations and the key points to consider for future NRW reduction projects.
PDAM Representatives’ Contributions
Representatives from the NRW departments of each PDAM shared their experiences and challenges related to leak management in their respective cities. PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya announced plans for additional projects utilizing the NELOW system to enhance their NRW management.
Panel Discussion and Q&A
The workshops concluded with a panel discussion among the organization leaders, where they exchanged ideas on future advancements and effective NRW and leak management methods tailored to local conditions. A Q&A session allowed for in-depth discussions on specific management cases and practical solutions.
Workshop Outcomes
The local water utility representatives recognized the importance of leak management through the NELOW system and expressed their desire for ongoing collaboration. Both Bandung and Cirebon PDAMs indicated their intention to actively utilize WI.Plat’s system. WI.Plat aims to maximize the outcomes of the KOICA CTS Seed 2 project based on the feedback received from the local PDAMs.
Future Prospects
The KOICA CTS Seed 2 project notably focused on enabling local stakeholders to independently utilize the NELOW system with minimal on-site support from WI.Plat. The project successfully achieved a high accuracy rate (over 90%) in leak detection, with local NRW officials actively participating in leak detection activities, aligning well with the project’s objectives.
Indonesia remains a key market for WI.Plat’s international operations, rapidly adopting and applying the NELOW system. WI.Plat is committed to managing water loss globally with their innovative NELOW system and achieving greater results worldwide.
