Title: Intelligent water leak management system pilot project

Period: Aug 2021 ~ Dec 2021 (5 Months)

Outcome:

  • Capacity building : 7 engineers
  • Water leak detection : 14 points
  • Water leak reduction : 7 ㎥/hr

Introduction

The P4G project, a collaboration between VUCICO Vietnam, VWSA, HADUWACO, HUCE, and WI.Plat, was conducted from July 2021 to April 2022 in Hai Duong, Vietnam. This project aimed to implement the Intelligent Water Leakage Management Platform across 3 District Metered Areas (DMAs), each serving 2,000 to 3,000 households, to address water loss issues.

Objective and Implementation

The project’s goal was to build local expertise in water leakage management and reduce water leakage by 30% within the targeted areas. It involved deploying the NELOW system, which included setting up a cloud-based server for data storage and analysis, and providing smart devices like mobile acoustic IoT sensors and ultrasonic flow meters for data collection on water distribution.

No Barrier was existed even during Pandemic for this Global Project

During the pilot project in Hai Duong city’s DMAs, over 10 engineers in each city were trained to use the NELOW system for detecting water leaks. The integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) data into NELOW improved the precision in locating water infrastructure, leading to efficient leak detection and management. Initial assessments identified several leaks, which were promptly repaired, showcasing a notable improvement in water conservation and reducing non-revenue water percentages.

Significant Leaks were Detected and Recovered Successfully

The project achieved significant reductions in water loss, validating the effectiveness of the NELOW system in improving water supply management and efficiency. The initiative also illustrated the potential for scaling this technology to other areas, representing a substantial advancement in intelligent water management practices.

Conclusion

The successful implementation of the P4G project in Hai Duong illustrates a practical approach to tackling water loss with advanced technology. By adopting intelligent water management systems like NELOW, there is a clear path forward for enhancing water efficiency and sustainability in urban settings, contributing positively to the management of water resources.

The 32nd Water Management Symposium and Exhibition hosted by Environmental Times

Event Name The 32nd Water Management Symposium and Exhibition

Date February 27 – February 29, 2024 (Tuesday – Thursday)

Venue Jeju International Convention Center

Hosted by: Environmental Times, Environmental Broadcasting GKBS, Korea Water Environment Policy Research Institute

ECO Times holds regular “Water Management Symposium and Exhibition” events twice a year, in the first and second halves. WI.Plat has been participating in this exhibition every year since its establishment. At the first half of the year Water Management Symposium in 2023, CEO Sanghoon Cha presented a session titled “Smart Water: Cases of Improving Local Water Supply Operations and Enhancing Smart Water Management Systems.”

This year, at the 32nd Water Management Symposium and Exhibition held at ICC Jeju International Convention Center in the first half of 2024, WI.Plat successfully concluded its exhibition alongside various domestic water companies.

During this symposium, discussions were held on the topic of “Efficient Water Management and Activation of the Water Industry for Low-Carbon Green Growth,” focusing on strategies for revitalizing the domestic water industry and effectively entering overseas markets. WI.Plat remains committed to contributing to the continuous interest and development of the water industry, and will strive to seize such opportunities in the future!

WI.Plat at 2024 Water Valley Business Week

Event Name 2024 Water Valley Business Week

Date January 30th ~ 31st, 2024 (Tuesday ~ Wednesday)

Venue National Water Industry Cluster Global Business Center (Daegu)

Organized by Daegu Metropolitan City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Korea Environment Corporation, K-water

WI.Plat successfully showcased the new Sonic GL, the water leak sensor at the 2024 Water Valley Business Week, marking its third annual event.

The Water Valley Business Week serves as a platform for exchange and development in the water industry, held annually at the National Water Industry Cluster Global Business Center in Gugi-myeon, Dalseong-gun, Daegu. More than 50 companies in the water industry, including Daegu City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Environment Corporation, and Korea Rural Community Corporation had participated in this event this year.

Following the successful promotion of WI.Plat’s Intelligent Leak Management System (NELOW) solution in 2023, this year’s event provided an opportunity for water facility managers in Gyeongsangbuk-do to take interest in NELOW, enabling detailed explanations of WI.Plat’s AI-based comprehensive leak management solution.

WI.Plat is committed to actively addressing both global and domestic water leakage issues, striving to support water facility management by providing quality water without leaks.
